You Spoke. We Listened. - This past spring, we asked for your feedback on the MPUSD Insider, and thank you for responding. Your feedback confirmed that the newsletter is helping staff stay informed and connected. A few also mentioned receiving the Insider twice or not liking the 5:30 a.m. delivery time. We are moving the delivery time to 7 a.m. and you can customize your ParentSquare notification settings to receive it at the digest time (currently 2,350 team members have it set to digest and 586 have it set to instant). We also send it by email because not all employees receive ParentSquare communications.
This year you'll notice:

Back-to-School Kick Off - We're excited to kick off the 2026 - 2027 school year together on Monday, August 3! Please take a few minutes to review the Back-to-School Kick-Off memo sent in June for event details, shuttle information, and important reminders.
First Day Fruit Baskets and Snacks - Now in its 13th year, the annual fruit baskets are coming to school sites and departments next week. And, this year, snack packs will also be added.
New MPUSD Website Update - Our new MPUSD district and school websites launched on June 8, and we've spent late spring and summer training staff, refining content, and resolving issues. While we're still making improvements, we appreciate your help! If you spot something that needs attention, please let your principal, school office supervisor, or the Communications team know. If you help manage your school's website, join our virtual ParentSquare Smart Sites training on August 26 from 3 - 4 p.m. by registering HERE. Previous training recordings and additional ParentSquare resources are also available.
Know Someone Living the MPUSD Way? Don't keep it a secret! - We know amazing things are happening every day across our schools and departments, but we can't celebrate what we don't know about. If you've seen a student, colleague, supervisor, team, or volunteer making a difference, demonstrating the MPUSD Way, or creating a memorable moment, let us know. Big or small, we'd love to hear about it. Provide a few sentences or a couple bullet points and we'll do the rest. MPUSD Way Submission Form.
We're Better Together - Our annual MPUSD Back-to-School Bash, held this past Saturday, wouldn't be possible without the incredible team members who volunteered to welcome and assist thousands of students and families. A special thank you to our first-time Bash volunteers who jumped right in at registration, confirmation, and check-in. Shoutout to our Data & Assessment gurus Cristian Ayala, Ellen Brown, andBrian Schoenfelder, and Norma Aquino, Martha Tabarez, Vanessa Rodriguez, and Ali Ceralde for helping families navigate ParentVUE and complete student confirmations. Thank you to Diamond Gaskins, Samantha Wilson, Teri Flanders, Doug Goldman, Jasmine Hernandez, Vicky Liu, Katherine Simonton, Crystal Yang, Ana Rocha, Emily Anderson, and Allison Bautistafor living the #mpusdway. Your willingness to serve where needed helped create a welcoming and positive experience for our families.
Improve with Purpose - Shout-out to Central Coast High/Community Day School Custodian Peter for going above and beyond in support of our students. After Community Day School students completed their mural this spring, Peter took the time to carefully finish the outside edges, giving their artwork a polished, professional look. Peter's pride in his work, attention to detail, and commitment to CCHS students exemplify the MPUSD Way.

MPUSD Community Updates - Each week on Saturdays at 10 am, the district sends out a weekly MPUSD Community Updates. If information is pertinent to all staff we pull it into The MPUSD Insider, but in case you would like to see the actual community/family publication we share it each week in this communication with staff.
Information to Share with Families
Families prefer to hear from their teacher and school site over the district. We often send our community partner fliers out on Peachjar (the district's electronic flier system) and district information in ParentSquare. Occasionally we will put community partner information in our district ParentSquare. Each week, if there is information of interest for families, we will add it here for you to share to families.
Board of Education
Board of Education Meeting- The Board of Education will meet this evening, Tuesday, July 28, at the District Services Center located at 540 Canyon Del Rey in Del Rey Oaks. If you miss the meeting and want to know what actions the Board takes you can check out the newly formatted Board Highlights later this evening or watch Spotlight on Board Highlights later this week.
Hot Off the Reel
Summer Learning with Expanded Learning Opportunities Program - During the summer, students stilled learning through our Expanded Learning Opportunities summer school program. Students received academic time in the mornings and fun activities later in the day including STEM learning, mindfulness, and physical education. If your student didn't spend their summer with us this year, remember for next summer!
Reminders: Info in Previous Editions Worthy of Repeat
The Why Behind the What - Readers shared in the feedback survey that they would like less repeated content. We hear you! While we may occasionally repeat important reminders so everyone has a chance to see them before deadlines and events, we'll move recurring announcements to the bottom of the newsletter to keep the top focused on new and timely updates.
