Principal’s Message

One of my (new) favorite children's books is What If Everybody Did That? It reminds us that every choice—big or small—has an impact on the people around us. It's a simple message for children, but an important reminder for adults, too. 

At La Mesa, we believe the strongest school communities are built through collaboration, communication, and a shared commitment to problem-solving. We know that students will make mistakes—that's part of learning. Our goal is to teach them how to reflect on their choices, repair relationships, and understand how their actions affect our entire community. When families and schools work together with empathy, open communication, and a focus on solutions, we create a school where every Shark feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Every choice we make—whether student, parent, or staff member—

helps shape the kind of school community we become.

One of our greatest responsibilities is not only teaching our children how to be thoughtful members of a community—but showing them what that looks like. 

When adults and children alike choose empathy, communication, and collaboration, we create the kind of school community where everyone can learn, grow, and belong.

A quick health reminder as we head into the new month: those fall/winter respiratory bugs are starting to pop up - even though it still feels like summer.

Please remind your students to wash their hands, cough or sneeze into their elbows, and stay home when they're feeling sick with a fever. Students should return to school once they've been fever-free for 24 hours without the help of fever-reducing medication.

Montage Health’s Free Family Hike for Health

 Creekside Terrace Trailhead, Fort Ord National Monument, Salinas

Get outdoors with our wellness educators and Ranger Tammy from the Central Coast Bureau of Land Management for a fun, family-friendly guided hike. The trail is just under 2 miles and rated moderately difficult with an incline.
