International ShakeOut Day is always the third Thursday of October (this year: October 20). Elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and even colleges around the state participate in this earthquake drill. Directions will be given over the classroom intercoms and students will be guided through the earthquake drill to learn how to drop, cover, and hold on. Students then evacuate the classrooms in case of a fire and meet on the school field to participate in a school check-in.
