Music education is beneficial for many reasons. It give students enhanced language capabilities, improved memory, strengthened hand-eye coordination, powerful study habits, teamwork, mental processing, and problem-solving skills. At La Mesa, students receive music instruction once a week to help develop these skills. Check our school calendar for information regarding performances and schedules.

P.E. with Ms. Hiyama

Students who participate in regular physical activity tend to have better cognitive performance, higher grades, improved overall health, memory skills, fine and gross motor skills, and classroom behaviors. Physical education also teaches the importance of teamwork, concentration, perseverance, and following directions. At La Mesa, students receive weekly physical instruction to practice all of these skills. Students also get an opportunity to learn about Playworks and the ways students can develop important life skills.
