Social Emotional Support Services

The Student Support Services department provides valuable educational supports and services to students needing additional support. This includes disadvantaged students such as foster youth, homeless students, socio-economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities.
At La Mesa, we have social emotional support staff members to provide services for students.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults through a relational, client-centered, and systemic-based approach. I've had additional trainings in cultural competency and worked with diverse populations.
Based upon the client’s unique pieces of diversity (e.g., age, gender, race, class, etc.) I work to uncover how to view these from a place of agency and strength; in your home, work and social spheres. Each of us have aspects of our identity which we aren't nurturing to the fullest of our ability. With cross cultural sensitivity, I create a safe place for clients to explore their internal and external experiences, so that they can heal and grow. I commit to acknowledging, and having awareness of: access, privilege, bias, and systemic barriers, as it is crucial in helping clients achieve their personal goals.
