During the month of September 2023, we are recognizing National Suicide Prevention Month. Through our Student Support Services department, we offer access to information and services to students on campus and when they are away from school.

Please review our newly developed MPUSD Mental Health Resources and Support Strategies

If anyone you know or yourself is in need of support, dial 988 to be connected to the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. This new number was developed in 2022 to make it simple for people to call, text or shat with the lifeline network.

According to 988, there are more than 200 local crisis centers with counselors to support someone in crisis or emotional distress 24/7.

MPUSD’s Board of Education also wants to share our official board regulation on suicide prevention, making suicide prevention training available for all employees who interact with students.

Regulation 5141.52: Suicide Prevention

World Suicide Prevention Day is also recognized on September 10, 2023. According to 988, this is an important time to remember those who have been affected by suicide and to remind our communities to connect with people who need support.
